Sydra Mallery is the K-5 science teacher at PS130, The Parkside School, in Brooklyn.  She has been working with the Proud Teacher Initiative since day one, when Wayne gathered us together in a school library and asked us how we come out to our students. She is the proud mother of two amazing adolescent sons. When she’s not busy teaching kids about monarch butterflies and milkweed, she likes to ride her bike, do yoga and bake bread.  She is the author of several picture books, including A Most Unusual Day, a sibling adoption story.  She supports educators in being their authentic selves for their students because it is a matter of safety and love, that will have an unmeasurable impact on all of our students.
